Truman

I don't usually say the word masterpiece much, but I loved this movie really much. I mean, look. It has Jim Carrey, who is one of my most favourite actors. And personally, I believe that his performance in "The Truman Show" is one of his most solid performances all around. He gained sympathy with his acting, and was totally drowned in his role in the film. It was... very real.
Plot: An insurance salesman/adjuster discovers his entire life is actually a TV show. Interesting eh?
Truman Burbank, Jim Carrey's character. Priceless acting.
Ed Harris plays Christof, the ruthless creator of the show. You can feel his coldness through his eyes.
Quote of the movie:
"We've become bored with watching actors give us phony emotions. We are tired of pyrotechnics and special effects. While the world he inhabits is, in some respects, counterfeit, there's nothing fake about Truman himself. No scripts, no cue cards. It isn't always Shakespeare, but it's genuine. It's a life."
~The Truman Show, Christof
Don't miss it :)

Legend/ Burn Notice

Michael Jackson has already become a legend. He will forever be remembered, and his name will not be lost in many years to come.
Somehow, I envy that. I envy that a lot.
I know that my name would perish 100 years after my death. And memories of me would be washed away with the next generations. I, actually, hate that feeling. A lot. It kinda sucks. Look at Freddie Mercury, look at Lennon, look at Elvis Presley, they didn't die at all! They are living in many of our mp3 players nowadays, they're living in many of our hearts. They aren't dead. They are, alive, in a way.
I realised my blog hits per day has dropped to an all time low to 6. Doesn't matter. 9 is better than 0.
So, I'm gonna introduce this great show called Burn Notice. Great show. Funny, clever, you name it.
Plot: A former spy, Michael Western, who was "fired" by the government, tries to find out why he got "burned", and tries to get his life back. In the meantime, he uses his Special Ops training to help others in desperate need.
Stars Jeffrey Donovan as Michael Westen. Very clever character. And has a very funny laugh. He always uses his clever brain and think on his feet when he gets into big, big trouble. Sucks at relationships, and he knows it. Always puts his life in front of his loved ones. Attracted to Fiona.
Gabrielle Anwar as Fiona Glennane. A very, very violent character. She is attracted to Michael Westen, but never got togethger because of the fact she treats violence as foreplay to her. She dated Michael Western once before. She can shoot a gun very well.
Bruce Campbell plays Sam Axe, Michael Westen's buddy. Always looks out for Michael, but usually needs Michael when he's doing a job. Very clever too. Can be very seductive to women. Had his girlfriend bought a car for him.
Sharon Gless as Madeline Westen, Michael Westen's mom. Always seeks attention from Michael Westen, beacuse of the fact that she is really alone. Has the power to persuade her son to do anything. Always targeted by enemies due to her link to Michael Westen.
Overall, a great show. Should download it. :)

Why?
Why do people start to appreciate things and people only when they lost em'?
Some people only start appreciating Michael Jackson only after he died.
Some people start to cherish their loved ones only after their loved ones passed away.
Some people start to realize they take computers and phones for granted only after those gadgets are spoiled.
It's fucked up, but ALSO present in everyone.

I realize, we all are just part of a cycle, a repetitive cycle. An ongoing, ever changing cycle. Being born, having fun, facing sad moments, and ultimately dying, are all part of it. But although it's a fixed cycle, we all can inject meaning and fun in our lives. We all have the choice, do we? Sometimes, instead if getting so caught up with our everyday lives, we can stop and take a look at our lives, and what we have achieved. A fun life, doesn't mean that it has meaning.
Hey I heard that the world is going to end in 2012. I mean, I think it's false, but c'mon, you never know right. It could JUST happen. It means I have 3 more years to live.
Hey!
Doesn't matter. Instead of wasting time think about whether it will happen a not, just think of it as a truth. Just believe that this world WILL end in 2012. Yes it WILL. How do I know? Doesn't matter.
So it means we all have 3 years to live.
It ALSO means we have 3 more years to make things right.
3 years ain't much, but we just have to make do. So in this 3 years, we all have to live life to the fullest. Don't get me wrong, living life to the fullest doesn't mean playing computer games and going out with friends always. It means that, and also the things you wanna be. I wanna be a director, but it's impossible to be one in 3 years. Who cares? At least I die knowing that I tried to be what I want to be. I feel the need to make my life valuable, and not waste my life away.
So I actually set a goal a few minutes before I wrote this post. To work hard towards being a director and play hard until 2012. Doesn't mean that I will start slacking after 2012, but it's still a target.
So... start thinking of your goals now!!
Well, enough of this emo and realistic talk. I have been watching this show called BURN NOTICE. Great show. Funny. Clever. Great voice-over. Overall, a fun show to watch.
Will update MORE about it next time.
End of post.

100
My 100 post. Well, it's a achievement. But i do have some lame posts which i regretted posting, so it's really nothing. You all know I'm in film sound video course right? So... I have this module STORYTELLING, which, I have to write stories. So I wrote one, and I would like to share it. Don't laugh, any comments just tag. I had to write 1 tragic story, so I thought of the case where the korean guy shot lots of people in the American university, then committed suicide. I got inspiration from it. :) I mean, shit happens, right?
[NOW/PRESENT… Time: 13.22]
Jack’s thankful that his country’s law allows students to bring guns to school. He pulls out his pistol; he’s never used it. He looks at his new and unused black pistol. There are words engraved on it: Colt Government 1911 A1. He takes a last look at his pistol, and muttered,” I’m counting on you, Colt”.
[TEN MINUTES EARLIER…Time: 13.12]
“Wake up!”
Jack wakes up, and looks up to his teacher’s face.
“Do your test, you’re wasting your time,” scowled Miss Barker.
Jack looks wearily at his blank paper, and scribbles some crap on his questionnaire. He’s prepared to fail the test, but the teacher’s not allowing him to. Funny. Jack giggled to himself, and Miss Barker shot him a stern look.
Meanwhile, at the school toilet…
Gary takes out his pistol slowly. He’s sick of the people around him. He’s sick of the pretentious students and teachers. These people are garbage; it’s time to do something about it, thought Gary. He’s sick of his mum putting him to the mental hospital for sessions. Gary thinks he’s perfectly fine, and that the whole world is up against him. He’s sick of the god damn world. “F***!” Gary calms himself down, and stands up slowly…
Jack takes a look at his watch. Time’s up. Torment’s over!
Seated right behind Jack is his girlfriend. Suzie, Suzie Green. She looks confident at her paper, and steals a quick look at his boyfriend’s paper. It is quite empty, with only some crap written. She smiled, and looks at her watch. Looks like its time’s up!
“ Time’s up! I’m collecting the …”
*Knock knock *
The knock on the classroom door interrupted Miss Barker. She walks over to open the door.
Gary stands behind the door, waiting for the door to open. He raises his gun nervously, waiting to press the trigger anytime…
Jack Connors watches as Miss Barker opened the door, mouth opened at what she saw. She gradually raises her hands, as if surrendering. Funny. Jack giggles again. One crazy teacher, he thought.
Gary pulls the trigger, and “Bang!” Miss Barker falls onto the ground, and the last thing she ever saw was the ceiling…
Gary strolls in to the classroom with the pistol raised. Next thing Jack knows, there is chaos in the room. Everybody ran in every direction possible, and Jack watches as his girlfriend Suzie falls onto the ground.
Suzie Green falls onto the ground upon feeling a sharp pain in her abdomen. She looks over to her boyfriend Jack, as he anxiously looks back. Suzie feels numb all over her body, and it seems clear that her time’s up. She looks over to the crying Jack, and with her last breath, blows a kiss to her boyfriend for the last time. Her sight is blurry, and then gradually, pitch black. Nothingness…
Jack, unable to move so as not to get shot, looks at her dead and beautiful girlfriend lying motionless on the floor, eyes wide open. Revenge is now on Jack’s fiery mind. Jack pulls his bag over…
[NOW/PRESENT…Time: 13.22]
Jack’s thankful that his country’s law allows students to bring guns to school. He pulls out his pistol; he’s never used it. He looks at his new and unused black and silver pistol. There are words engraved on it: Colt Government 1911 A1. He takes a last look at his pistol, and muttered,” I’m counting on you, Colt”.
Gary pulls the trigger repeatedly viciously all over the classroom. “Now the world will see that you should never mess with Gary Tyler! Never!” Gary screamed. He then breaks into insane laughter!
Jack muttered while squatting for cover, “Stupid crazy insane laughing guy… You’re so, so dead.” Jack’s so nervous that he can feel his own heartbeat. He closed his eyes and whispered “ For Suzie…” He stands up, with his “ Colt” in his hands…
And right at that exact moment, Gary Tyler and Jack Connor looked at each other in the eye, with guns pointing to each other.
“Bang!”
Gary Tyler feels pain his chest, and staggers down to the floor. He knows he is out of ammo. The pain engulfed him, which was unbearable. Gary slowly points the gun towards Jack once more.
Jack had no choice but to press the trigger two more times.
Gary Tyler drops the gun for the last time, and the last few words he’ll ever speak are “ Dad, I’m coming. I… I…” Then, pitch black. Nothingness.
[TWENTY MINUTES EARLIER... TIME: 13.02]
Complete silence.
Everyone is doing their test, with the only exception of Jack. He’s looking around, playing with his pencils, and day-dreaming. How he wished the test was over faster…
And suddenly, a hand was raised.
Form teacher Miss Nicole Barker walks up to the person, and the person asked politely,” May I go the toilet? I’m kinda… you know… urgent. “
Miss Barker nods her head, and said,” Make it quick, Tyler.”
The person stands up, and heads out of the classroom.
Jack watches as Gary Tyler walks out of the room. Jack always thought of him as a weak person, a useless person who couldn’t stand up to a fight. That’s why Gary Tyler was a victim of bullying in class. Jack even heard he’s been to mental institution before! But somehow, as Gary Tyler walks out of the classroom with his left fists clenched so tightly that blood veins seemed to be bursting, and right hand hiding something in his pocket, Jack felt scared. It seemed like a different Gary Tyler. A more determined Gary Tyler. A fiercer Gary Tyler.
A… somewhat… crazier Gary Tyler.
Okay, that'll be all. To my readers, thanks for reading my blog to my 100th post( For those who care). Means a lot to me.

Drug
It's been like this for the past 4 days of total torment. Sleeping at 3 every night doing my assignments is making me exhausted. But you know what, I feel happy doing my homework, for once in my life. My homework is evaluating film, writing stories, directing variety shows, photography and drawing/photoshop.
And I enjoy all that.
I'm in a happy period time of my life. Life's... good.
No more maths. Science. P.O.A.
That's right.
Movies is like a drug to me. I'm crazily in awe over it. Never gets tired. And right now, It's the right drug for me. I need it.
Nuff' of the unfunny chick flicks. It's getting old for me.
And I wanna salute Adam Lambert, the runner up to American Idol. Who gives a fuck whether he lost to Allen? For me, he won. His interpretation of Sam Cooke's " A change is Gonna Come" is priceless. I could feel his emotions, and the rock guitar accompaniment was magic. The whole performance was, magic.
Adam Lambert ( A change is gonna come )
This guy makes every song his own. He's the man, I tell ya.
